While making our way up the west coast to our summer spot, we elected to take the more scenic road along the 101. While the views were amazing, when the fog cleared, the public land was few and far between. This meant that we stayed at more than a few casinos, and even a welcoming cheese monger along the way. Shoal Water Bay Casino was in the former category, and while convenient, not necessarily recommended.

What to Expect at Shoal Water Bay Casino
Like many casinos, staying at the Shoal Water Bay is free. Unlike many casinos, Shoalwater Bay’s parking lot is TINY. Lucky for us, we arrived in the early afternoon, when the parking lot was empty, and we were able to tuck our rig as tightly as we could in the northeast corner. This still had customers of the casino walking by our rig at most hours of the night, coming to and from their cars.
Checking in was easy, and the lady at the security desk was cordial, but overall, it was an awkward couple of nights.
Amenities Around Shoal Water Bay Casino
The best thing that can be said about Shoal Water Bay Casino is that right across the street is a Chevron with large fueling lanes and propane. We were able to fuel up the bus and top off our propane before trekking further north. As for water and dump stations, we were still carrying water from South Beach State Park, but Washington is one of the few states with RV dump stations and potable water at highway rest areas, and we were able to dump and refill a few miles northeast in Elma.
If your rig is small, this can be an ok spot, but for larger rigs, we can’t recommend it. Safe travels!
