Our last stop before our winter layover, and only the second time we have paid to park. Lake Corpus Christi State Park is a sprawling park cupped around one end of Lake Corpus Christi. Available RV amenities include water, power with 50A, 30A, and 20A receptacles, and an easy-to-access dump station. Our spot only cost $20 a night, and they have spots with sewer hookups for a little bit more.

Another stop on our run south from the Sugar Beat Harvest. The Dancing Bee Honey Farm and Winery is a member of the Boondocker’s Welcome network of free camping sites across the US. It is located in Rodgers, TX, just off Highway 190. As for a campsite, it’s not much, just a gravel lot with lots of sunlight for solar. Adjacent to the railroad and highway, it can be a

Our first stop in Texas on our run south from The Sugar Beet Harvest. Lake Quitman West Dispersed Camping was a great place to cool our heels for a bit and recover from a simply horrible cold that was going around the bus. Located 20 minutes or so outside of the town of Lake Quitman, it’s a little off the beaten path, but not so much as to be inaccessible.

On our sprint south running from winter, we stayed a few days in Oklahoma, giving the girl and me an opportunity to check out The Gathering Place, in Tulsa, Oklahoma This sprawling 66.5-acre free public park was absolutely amazing! Even in the winter with the water features turned off, The Girl and I only explored a fraction of it. While there, we spent a lot of time on the truly

While we were at Jauqes Rolling Wheels DIY, we had an opportunity to explore a lot of the local area. One of the gems we found was the Route 66 Museum in Lebanon. The museum is located inside the Lebanon Library, and while small, was fascinating, and most importantly, FREE! Inside, we were delighted to find a treasure trove of information and artifacts from the area back when Route 66

While we stayed at Jacques Rolling Wheels DIY, we had the opportunity to explore the region. One opportunity we capitalized on was Spookfest! This family-friendly Halloween event was hosted by the local medical group Jordan Valley Community Health at the spacious Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park in Springfield, Missouri. The event very much had a carnival feel with game booths for little kids, balloon animals, hay rides, and even a corn maze!

While we stayed at Jacques Rolling Wheels DIY, Mom and the kids got a chance to explore the Discovery Center in Springfield, Missouri! So what is it? The Springfield Discovery Center is an enormous STEM playground. Unlike other museums we’ve seen, where there may be a small interactive play area, this whole facility is dedicated to learning through play. Due to the midweek visit, the kids had a free run

Christopher Wright/ February 22, 2023/ Adventures, Campground, RV Stories/ 0 comments

As part of our plans to move south for the winter, we stayed for a month at Jacque’s Rolling Wheels DIY, outside of Hartville, Missouri. Jacque’s Rolling Wheels DIY is the first place we ever paid to camp. As a campground, it’s minimal; just a field. You pay for the networking experience of the other nomads and full-timers as you work on your rig. Most campgrounds do not allow this!
