As we puttered up the 101, we had a hard time finding public land to park on and made use of several casinos along the way. Bear River Casino was one of the nicer ones.
Staying in an RV at Bear River Casino
Like most casinos, Bear River is free and dry, meaning that you can park in their lot for a few nights, but there are no hookups. The check-in procedure for Bear River is similar to most other casinos, too: Talk to security and let them know your intentions and vehicle statistics. The unique thing about Bear River is that you also need to join their player club. This is free and gets you some free play time on the slot machines, but otherwise is not really a concern.
Amenities Around Bear River Casino
There are plenty of grocery stores close to Loleta, our favorite being a WinCo just 15 minutes north of the casino. As for RV facilities, while the maps show a few in Fortuna, just south of the casino, we elected to ride heavy with full tanks as we had less than a week planned between hookups.
With the ease of access to dump stations, water, and food, the Bear River Casino made a wonderful spot to cool our jets as we continued to trundle up the coastal highway.
