Map of Washington

As we’ve been waiting for our bus to be completed, we’ve had more opportunities to explore Western Washington. Our most recent trip was over to Bremerton.

Bremerton’s Free Bug and Reptile Museum

This was an absolutely adorable little museum built around little adventures. In addition to the many live bugs and reptiles on exhibit, they also had hundreds of other pinned bugs and beetles on display on boards.

The kids also got a chance to earn “bravery stickers” for holding a few of the snakes they had out for the purpose.

Forest Ridge Park

During our visit to the Bug Museum, we had a call of nature. Unfortunately, the museum has no public restrooms, but Forest Ridge Park does!

The park, in addition to having a nice clean bathroom, had a lovely nature trail with signs talking about local plants. It was a nice low-impact hike that everyone enjoyed, even with less-than-ideal footwear!

Kiwanis Park

Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures of this one.

This park had a fantastic play area, plenty of green space for soccer or other ball games, as well as a giant slide coming down the hill that the kids absolutely loved. Even though there were a lot of people there that day for a soccer tournament, the play area didn’t feel crowded, and the bathroom facilities were still clean with no lines.
