While camping in the Dixie National Forest outside of Bryce Canyon National Park, we took a side trip one day to Bryce Wildlife Adventure. It was a truly unique experience! If you’ve ever been to a Cabela’s sporting goods store or a Bass Pro Shop, you may be familiar with the “Dead Zoo” experience. Bryce Wildlife Adventure takes this to the next level and we mean that in a good way.

Inside Bryce Wildlife Adventure
Bryce Wildlife Adventure has one of the most expansive collections of taxidermied animals we’ve ever seen. More than just a collection of animals, the curators and caretakers of the museum set the animals all in detailed dioramas themed on different biomes and ecosystems throughout the world. Interspersed with the dioramas were collections of artifacts ranging from a collection of political bobbleheads to ancient spear points and grinding pots. On the upper level, the walls were covered in case after case of preserved butterflies, beetles, and mounted fish from around the globe.

Outside the Bryce Wildlife Adventure, they have a few dioramas and old wagons, but the main reason we came for a visit was the deer. The museum hosts a collection of hand-raised European Fallow Deer that guests can feed for a small fee. While we were there, the deer were growing their seasonal antlers and some of the deer let us pet the delicate velvet on their growing antlers; definitely a delicate and trusting experience.

Whether you’re in the area to explore the park, or just passing by, The Bryce Wildlife Adventure is definitely worth the price of admission and has something for every explorer in the family!
