While we stayed at Jacques Rolling Wheels DIY, we had the opportunity to explore the region. One trip we made was utilizing our AZA membership and touring the Dickerson Zoo in Springfield, MO. This amazing zoo is more than just a zoo. Dickerson zoo hosts a number of classes and outreach programs, an animal hospital, and even a raptor rehabilitation center. Of course, This is still primarily a zoo with

We stayed for a few nights in Harlan, Iowa on our sprint from winter following the sugar beet harvest. This was a Boondockers Welcome spot, so it wasn’t a camping spot, but a parking spot that someone lent us for the night. Typically, Boondockers Welcome is just that, boondocking, but the individual we were staying with had some water for us (we hadn’t been able to fill up before arriving)

Mom looked around for museums we could get into on our limited budget and found that this one had reciprocal benefits through ASTC. This meant that thanks to The Boy’s Young Eagles Flight, we could

Mom did her homework and knew that this was a good zoo to join. Not only is it a cheaper membership – only $80/year – but it gets us into many AZA zoos completely free!  This has been the

While there is no way to make this an all-inclusive list, and to date, my only experience camping is car camping, here is a list of campgrounds and places we’ve seen in Washington State and a little bit about them from our perspective. Yakima Sportsman State Park Built around a bit of an oasis in the Yakima Valley, Yakima Sportsman State Park was an overnight stay when we ventured to

This is the second installment of the parks and other places we’ve been to and explored in Washington State. Sadly I wasn’t as great of a shutterbug with these locations, so it will be a bit more word and a bit less image. Big Pines Recreation Area and Campground Yakima River Valley Tucked into the Yakima River valley this campground was less than ideal. We reserved one of the drive-in
