We’re no strangers to spending a few nights at a casino. Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino, while not our favorite to date, wasn’t the worst by far.

Camping at Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino

Our “Campsite” at Chukchansi Casino

When it comes to parking our rig at casinos, we’ve seen everything on the road from FHU to large open fields or parking lots. Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino is closer to the latter. They have a dedicated RV area in the northeast section of their main parking lot that has a level-ish gravel pad for rigs to back onto. This pad is only about 40 feet deep and, as such, we couldn’t quite fit. Our tires were all on the pad, but our door hung over the regrettably steep curb. Unfortunately, Mom misjudged this curb and turned her ankle pretty badly!

Casinos let RVs stay in their lots with the expectation that the campers will spend a little money at the casino. Typically, we’ll get a meal at one of the restaurants the casino hosts. Of the several restaurants within the casino, we chose to visit the Noh’O’ Cafe. While the kids were delighted with the meal, Dad found it to be pretty bland and uninspired compared to other casino fare.

Amenities Around Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino

The Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino has an attached travel center. However, when Dad scouted it in the toad for a car wash, he found it to be a little too cramped for comfort. That, and the car wash was out of service. There didn’t appear to be an RV dump or potable water fill.

All said, while the Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino was convenient, it really isn’t a location to seek out. The West Coast doesn’t have as much public land as the Southwest, though, so it was a welcome free spot along our route.
