While traveling through Arizona, we had the opportunity to view Saguaro National Park. As we like to boondock, and the park sits on either side of a major city, there wasn’t much nearby. Luckily, we found Ironwood National Monument Access Point, just outside Marana, Arizona.

The Ironwood National Monument access point is very easy to get to, and only 30 minutes from I-10. All roads up to it are paved, except for the last mile or 2. The one thing to be careful about is that all the property surrounding the monument is private property. As long as you cross the cattle grate and enter the lot, you should be good to go.
As for a camping spot, it is not much. Similar to our stop outside Spokane, the Ironwood National Monument Access Site is just a flattish lot, intended for both campers and OHV vehicle staging. There are no amenities here, not even vault toilets or dumpsters, so be sure your rig is self-contained. While there are dirt roads leading into the monument, they are very rough and suitable only for 4X4s and OHV travel.
We only stayed there a few nights. Enough time to rest up, visit Saguaro National Park, and move on to our next stop.
Do be warned, however, that the road is pretty rough getting into it. We were tempted to purchase some gravel to even out a couple of the potholes but were worried we’d get in trouble for it. It’s only a couple of potholes, but they’re pretty big.

Being just a few minutes outside of Tucson, Arizona, there isn’t much that can’t be found, from groceries to parts. As for RV dump and water fill, there is a Pilot Travel Center just south of Tucson off of I-10 that has RV fuel lanes, a dump station, and potable water.
Whether you’re passing through and need a break, looking to take in the National Park, or just want to get out for the weekend, Ironwood National Monument Access Point may be the stop for you. Easy to get to and convenient.
