Our first stop in Texas on our run south from The Sugar Beet Harvest. Lake Quitman West Dispersed Camping was a great place to cool our heels for a bit and recover from a simply horrible cold that was going around the bus. Located 20 minutes or so outside of the town of Lake Quitman, it’s a little off the beaten path, but not so much as to be inaccessible.
As part of our plans to move south for the winter, we stayed for a month at Jacque’s Rolling Wheels DIY, outside of Hartville, Missouri. Jacque’s Rolling Wheels DIY is the first place we ever paid to camp. As a campground, it’s minimal; just a field. You pay for the networking experience of the other nomads and full-timers as you work on your rig. Most campgrounds do not allow this!
On our run south from North Dakota, we stayed a few days in the dispersed camping area in the Worthwine Island Conservation Area. The area was a bit off the beaten path, and google maps and truck maps both failed us. One had us magically transported across the map, while the other got us most of the way there and then stopped. Just outside of Centerville, South Dakota is an adorable county park that is free to camp at. With a notable exception.
