On our sprint south running from winter, we stayed a few days in Oklahoma, giving the girl and me an opportunity to check out The Gathering Place, in Tulsa, Oklahoma

This sprawling 66.5-acre free public park was absolutely amazing! Even in the winter with the water features turned off, The Girl and I only explored a fraction of it. While there, we spent a lot of time on the truly epic play structures at The Adventure Playground. We also explored the Sensory Maze, and enjoyed some food at one of their many cafes!
The Adventure Playground

This, by far, was the best playground I’ve ever seen. They had several themed areas, from towers with bridges to a wetland area with cranes, and even a pirate ship! I lost track of the girl several times and we had to arrange a hook-up spot if we lost each other. I’d recommend writing your phone number on your kid, because you will lose them in the maze of towers, bridges, and slides.

Sensory Maze
We happened across this little hedge maze tucked behind a circular stage at The Gathering Place. Each courtyard in the maze had different music-making objects!
Dancing tiles!

A mallet harp!
They also had gongs, wooden blocks, and a parabolic reflector. The whole maze was alive with happy music made by enthusiastic children, and even some older folk who hadn’t forgotten fun!
Food and More!

We got some cheeseburgers from the open-air cafe, but the site hosts a couple of different restaurants to cater to many tastes. The food was good but expensive. All put together, I can’t complain as everything else was free.
They also had play areas for littles. While we walked around, we found koi ponds, information on local plants, and so much more! We didn’t even make it as far as the Four Seasons Garden, the Slide Vale, or the Swing Hill!

This was definitely a great day at The Gathering Place! And we are definitely going back next time we pass through Tulsa!
