While we stayed in Castleton, ND, we were able to explore some of the neighboring cities. One day, Mom and the kids ventured out to see the Barns County Historical Society Museum in Valley City, ND.

Barns County Historical Society Museum has lots of things to see and touch and learn about. You never know exactly what you’ll find in these free museums, but they are always worth popping into!

While we were in the area we also found a small Veterans Memorial Park.

It’s a very small park dedicated to remembering local veterans, but the displays were nice. And what kid doesn’t like military hardware?

All in all a day well spent, and a city well worth the side trip!
