On our run south from North Dakota, we stayed a few days in the dispersed camping area in the Worthwine Island Conservation Area.

Our rig at the Worthwine Island Conservation Area

The area was a bit off the beaten path, and google maps and truck maps both failed us. One had us magically transported across the map, while the other got us most of the way there and then stopped. One thing we can say with confidence is don’t come in on the Levee. It looks like it can be done, but you shouldn’t.

Come in on farm road 396. If you go north through Amazonia and tack back and forth over the farm roads you’ll have a long, bumpy, dusty road. While there is an ATV trail, it’s not ideal for buses.

The Worthwine Island Conservation Area was beautiful, however, with easy access to the river and lots of easy walking along the levee and access roads.

Overall, a nice place to rest for a few days after a long drive. Just be sure to double-check your route planning.
